A Uganda-based education organisation in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Kikuube District, western Uganda.
Spectrum XLabs Alliance (SXLA) is a Uganda-based organisation that makes emerging technologies and practical learning opportunities accessible to young people in underserved communities, beginning in rural Uganda.
SXLA developed the Junior Entrepreneurs Program (JEP) from its Founder's discomfort with how school separates classroom learning from the real problems students live with. JEP is a way of learning, not a separate organisation or partnership. Technology, including AI, is a tool; it does not replace teachers or human judgement.
SXLA was founded in 2020 and incorporated on 11 March 2025 as a company limited by guarantee (registration number 80034750112386). Registration with the National Bureau for NGOs is planned for 2027. Governance and Legal Status
SXLA also plans MTP Secondary School and the MTP Advanced Academy in Hoima City, both long-term plans. The necessary resources and partners are being sought to meet the planned timeframe. Stay tuned for updates. About Our Future Projects
"Talent is everywhere. Opportunity should be, too."
Young people in Kyangwali have as much ability as young people anywhere. What they often lack is exposure: the chance to see what is possible and the tools to act on it.
"Create the conditions that make a learner want to know. Then teach them how to find out."
Our big idea: every learner can turn discomfort into knowledge, action and value.
To inspire and equip youth to achieve breakthroughs that accelerate an abundant future for all through technology.
A world where every young person has the skills, tools and opportunities to shape a stable, abundant and thriving future.
Something practical: young people who understand these needs in their own communities and build the knowledge and skills to help meet them.
Spectrum Secondary School, which SXLA runs, has its own mission and vision. Read the School's Mission and Vision
Spectrum Secondary School opened in a church in 2020 with no external funding. COVID-19 and a 2022 storm left two learners; SXLA rebuilt, and JEP began that year. By Term One 2026 the school had 277 learners: 65% refugees and 41% girls.
Spectrum Secondary School opens in a church inside the settlement, with no external funding.
A storm leaves two learners. SXLA rebuilds, and JEP begins with five laptops and one Wi-Fi connection.
Spectrum XLabs Alliance Ltd is incorporated (reg. 80034750112386).
277 learners (Term One). Boys' dormitory construction begins after funds arrive in August 2026.
Spectrum XLabs Alliance (SXLA) is the Uganda-based organisation that leads the educational work and runs Spectrum Secondary School. Spectrum TechLabs Alliance (STA) is a separate, US-based partner organisation that mobilises funding, talent and partnerships for this work.
The two organisations work together, but they are separate. Donations made through STA are completed on STA's website. How to Support Our Work
